As with all personal injury claims there is what is known as a limitation period by which time proceedings have to be issued.
The standard limitation period is that a claim has to be issued within three years of the date of knowledge that an injury has occurred. Where a person lacks mental capacity there is no limit and with children a claim can be made at any time until the date of their 18th birthday. After this, they have three years from which to make their own sepsis claim.
Claims on behalf of a loved one who died as a result of sepsis must be made three years from the date of their negligent treatment or the date of their death.
That’s why it is essential that you do not hesitate when seeking legal advice in regards to sepsis negligence.
